Search
Searches for a new attractor. This is probably the most important keyboard shortcut
in the whole program. Depending on the equation you have selected, it may take a few successive searches
before you find an interesting one.
Previous and Next
You may narrow the "search area" by decreasing the search Randomness (see 4.2.2). You can stop the search by pressing the Escape key. Moves through the history of search results.

Render
Starts rendering the attractor. You can only render one attractor at a
time.
Animate
Press Escape to stop rendering. Iterates the equation on 40,000 points (or 4,000 blobs in Solid Mode) and animates
the result. You can change the parameters during the animation, but nothing else. Points drifting towards
Infinity are always replaced, therefore the animation never stops even when there isn't any attractor.
This feature works best with Chaotic Flow, Lorenz and Lorenz-84 equations and may require a medium to
high range graphic card.
Press Escape to stop the animation. |

Type drop-down list lets you change the attractor equation on the fly. Iterations is the number of times the equation will be computed. The default value is twenty millions. The rendering time will vary depending on the computer speed, the equation and the rendering mode. On average, a rendering takes less than five minutes. Iterations is a direct measure of the render quality! The higher the iterations the longer the render will take, but the nicer the final image will be. Randomness is the factor, expressed as a percentage, of random variation applied to each parameter during a search. The lower the Randomness is, the more similar the attractor will be after a search. |

Below are the parameters, which you can modify either by typing a new value
in the text box or using the slider. Dragging it left or right will update the Attractor in real-time, even
during an animation.

|
||
When the mouse cursor is moved close enough to the slider thumb, the cursor will change shape : from one to three black arrows pointing away from the thumb. Keep the left mouse button pressed and the slider thumb position will smoothly move in the direction indicated by the arrows until you release the mouse button or move the cursor away from the slider. Click on the check box next to the parameter name to exclude it from a search. A parameter is excluded when the box is checked. |
